over $200 later and we still don't have any idea why jasmine has lost so much weight. she was a big fat cat and she's become soooo skinny that we can feel her bones now. she's gone from 14 lbs to 9 lbs in less than 2 years.

(this is when she was fat)
i had done some research and i really thought she had feline hyperthyroidism because she was exhibiting quite a few of those symptoms. after examining her, the vet agreed that that's probably what she was suffering from. but they did a full blood panel and the T4 test which all came back with normal levels. i could tell the vet was surprised and a little baffled. she said jasmine appears to be healthy so they want us to bring her back in two weeks to check her weight again. of course, we could go on to more diagnostic tests, like x-rays and such to find out what's causing the weight loss, but we're going to go with the vet's suggestion since jasmine isn't suffering or in any pain.
it doesn't help that allie took jasmine to live with her last week. :(
