this is what i've been reading for what seems like forever because it's a huge book and i didn't read much over the holidays. i've read that some people didn't like it, but i love it so far; they complained about the ending (not there yet).   i'm almost done.  even if the ending sucks, i've enjoyed what i've read so far. it's beautifully written.  and the dogs...oh man.

eta: reviews were right. i seriously loved the first 500 pages of this book and then BOOM, it blew up. it's a damn shame.
