duhneesei received an email from my cousin gayle tonight.
a little background.....her mom and my mom are sisters. she and i had our daughters 6 months apart, we both went through divorces after many years of marriage and our girls are both on their high school colorguards. i wish we saw more of each other, but sadly, we only seem to get together during the holidays.
anna is her daughter and mike is her ex:
Hi Denise-
How are you? We're crazy busy with color guard (of course) and Anna's
birthday (how can she be 17???). Is Allie still doing guard?
Mike went out a bought Anna a brand new Mustang convertible without a word of
warning or bit of discussion with me, which caused big problems because I
wouldn't allow Anna to drive a convertible, and he wouldn't exchange the car
for a hardtop, etc. etc. We've finally worked out a compromise, but now I
have my dad's old Thunderbird that Anna was driving.
Would you like it for Allison, or have you already found a car for her? It's
1989 and has 75,000 miles on it. My dad put new tires on it last year, and I
just put new brakes (rear, I think) on it this summer. I felt like it was a
nice safe car for Anna to drive. My dad gave us the car for free, so if
Allison can use it, you can just have it.
Let me know.... I hope you guys can breathe out there - the fires are so
awful.

what a nice gesture! i'm absolutely flabbergasted. haven't i been hoping for something like this?!? it's a miracle i tell you!
allie was already asleep, so she doesn't know yet. i have such a cool family. :D
